The Dark Bully Harem Romance series

Title:  Dirty Retaliation (book 1)  (book 1 in the Dark Bully Harem Romance series)

Author:  C.P. Mandara

Synopsis:  My name is Adrien Dumortier. My best friend, James Leveritt, has just married the woman I love. That’s not the worst of it. She’s also pregnant with his child. To be fair, the man thinks I’m dead. He was supposed to rescue me from the clasps of my brother, but turned up ten minutes late, so had I not managed to get rid of the bomb that was strapped to my waist, I would now be dead. Thankfully, I am more resourceful than the bastard gave me credit for.  So, how do I get even with someone like that? Not face to face, that’s for sure. The man is black ops trained and knows more styles of martial arts than I know ice-cream flavors. No, I’m going to be a little underhand about this. I’m going to kidnap his sister. Then, I’m going to torture her until she’s screaming down the fucking phone and send him the video. Then, I’m going to mess with his wife.  Buckle up. It’s going to be quite a ride.
Dirty Retaliation is an intense dark romance suspense series. It features a bully alpha male special agent and a female assassin. They are involved in a underground world of organised crime and espionage.

I have to confess…  I wasn’t looking for Addie to run his own series.  When his character “died” at the close of the Special Agent series, I believed it.  Opening this book was a shock to my system!  I’m not 100 percent sure I can buy it yet, honestly, because CP wrote his death very convincingly!  That being said, this book starts a series that stands on its own- and that I can buy!  I love that a character who seemed to have it all together suddenly is off his game and caught off guard- not just by a woman who is his equal, but by other women in general!  My major struggle with this one is believing that Addie would believe James betrayed him.  James was his best friend, who had been with him through hell.  I haven’t been able to remove that thought, and it colors how I read this series.  However, love screws with our minds and Addie is in love with Lois- believing that James betrayed him over believing Lois doesn’t love him the same way is definitely likely.  I immediately finished this book and NEEDED the sequel.

Title:  Dirty Retaliation (book 2)  (book 2 in the Dark Bully Harem Romance series)

Author:  C.P. Mandara

Synopsis: I wasn’t going to hurt her.  If I were a better man, I’d just keep her chained up and then let her go - but I’m not. I’m a sick and twisted beast that feeds off the fear of others and eats tears for breakfast.  Besides, kidnapping Ione was too easy.  James won’t take long to come to her rescue, though. Right now, he’ll be imagining all the fucking depraved things I’m about to do to her, and that should be incentive enough for him to come running. He’s got until midday. If he doesn’t show, I am going to hurt her. Really. Fucking. Badly.

I knew how this book would end (and I wasn’t wrong), yet, at the same time, I was wrong!  It ended with me feeling a book hangout of “I NEED BOOK 3 NOW!” and unable to really grasp an ending that I fully expected.  That being said, it wasn’t predictable.  What led to the ending was an insane jump off multiple buildings- before you hit the ground, CP throws you back into the air!  The sex in this one is not only hot, but depraved in places.  Emotionally, it is a chaotic journey.  While I was fully in the headspace of the series by this book, I struggle with the knowledge that James (who is a combo of James Bond and M) would purposely put a woman with Leader’s baggage at such risk.  He knew going in what she would be up against, and her history makes his choice to embed her a mistake that, unfortunately for us readers, we have no idea whether or not she will survive.  The wait for book 3 might kill me!
